How can I record with my VCR when it’s connected to a converter box?

We currently recieve broadcast through an antanea. We bought a converter box to be prepared for the transition for digital tv in Feb. 09. We own an Emerson DVD/VHS combo. We receive all the tv stations just fine, but I find that I cannot record TV shows with my VCR since it is now connected to the converter box. (I have to use the VCR/TV button on my remote to be able to even watch any tapes or DVD’s)...

More fun with the Sony HDR-XR500v HD camcorder. Although a marginally useful feature, the slow movie record function can make for some interesting effects. It records 240fps but only for 3 seconds into a buffer and you must then wait about 15-20 seconds for it to process before you can record again. There is also some fairly significant quality loss but for smaller screens its passable....
