For a bit of fun I’ve done some random shots of my backyard with 3 different old video cameras to show the comparison of the pictures that come from them. The first one used is a 1970 Sony AVC-3200CE B&W vidicon tube camera, the 2nd is a 1981 National WV-3200N colour vidicon tube camera, the third is a 1994 Sony CCD-TR350E CCD colour camcorder (Video 8 Handycam). Due to the fact the first two cameras are not tuned up to specs the pictures look a lot more inferior to how they would of looked when brand new and tuned for optimum performance especially the National WV-3200N camera as there’s a lot of yellow/green moire beat patterning in the picture giving it that yellow/green tint, once that camera is serviced and tuned for optimum performance it will give pictures near as good as the Sony camcorder in good lighting conditions. The Sony AVC-3200CE needs it’s tube face cleaned to remove the spots seen and some alignment jobs for optimum pictures but otherwise the B&W pictures from it are very good.
