Is it possible to connect Basic Cable on a DTV converter box and make it viewable?

1) I have [Comcast] basic cable (the one you don’t need a cable box for, and have 60+ channels on it). No ABC channel on my basic cable?

I found a cable in my apartment and connected it to my TV and only get basic standard channels, before the Digital Transition I had ABC, CBS, NBC, CW, Food Network, TV GUIDE Channel, PBS, and some other local channels.
