Recording TV images onto a Sony Camcorder?

I have a Sony DCR-TRV-250 camcorder and we are trying to recorder from the tv, but we cannot figure out how to view the tv in the viewfinder.
we’ve followed the directions in the manual, and we are still having troubles.

any help?

    Most TVs do not have a video-out. The AV plugs on *most* TVs are AV-in.

    If you are using a cable box or satellite box – or if you are trying to get video from a game console, you need “Y connectors” that connect to the video out of the cable box or satellite box or game console and will provide two connectors – 1 set to the TV’s AV in and the other set to the AV-in of the camcorder.
