Digital Transition Question about Antennas?

September 3, 2010 by: nickadmin

I have an older tv and I don’t have cable. I bought the conveter box, hooked it up and the tv was really clear. However, the picture is constantly cutting out and ’searching for signal’. Does this mean that I need a better quality antenna for my reception or is that just the way the digital tv signal is?

The digital signal is supposed to be being increased after Feb 17th. Apparently Obama has put the brakes on the switchover and it won’t happen completely till June 20th. Your best bet is to get a TV signal booster from Radio Shack until they turn the wick up.

    that is your antenna

You probably need a better antenna or to re-aim the one you have. Digital will be perfect right up to the point the receiver can’t correct for the errors, then it will quit. The fact that it works sometimes and then freezes tells me you are right on the edge of enough signal. Digital can be very dependable when everything is set up correctly.
