Networked Video In My Home using SageTv, XBMC & Pc’s Part 1

No commentary but you can pretty much see how it all works together to access anything from anywhere. All of my internet tv shows such as shows from Revision3 are downloaded on my PC automatically with Miro & I can watch them on the SageTv box or on Xbox Media Center on my hacked Xbox & they are automatically deleted within a set period of time to stop my hard drive from filling up. Also all content from SageTV PVR & PC’s is accessible from anywhere in the world with my psp using the PS3 remote play feature. SageTv Pc 1st Mainboard mobo 2.0Ghz P4 256mb ram 120GB Samsung XP BOOT, Kind of a waste a free space but it was a spare drive & Samsungs seem to last forever. 2x 250GB Maxtor IDE Drives Storage Cheap Hong Kong ATA 133 card Because the old mobo dosen’t see over 137GB Hauppage PVR-150 TV Tuner card & Serial cable from a ReplayTv to connect pc to DirecTv for channel change. XBOX Slayers Evox Latest XBMC Xbox Media Center Maxtor 160GB FDB Hard Drive 7200RPM Xecuter 2 Mod Chip & 40 or so games

7:37 Compression & converting options, Awesome feature in my opinion.

I’m going to revisit Sage, PC hardware is really cheap now & re-watching this I forgot how awesome Sage was, Except for the crashing I had experienced it was hands down the best DVR I had ever used & had some features I’ve never seen on any other dvr before.
i run sagetv on a 2gb pc, no problems.
i use s-video tv-out connection from pc to my old tv.
pc tv-tuner is hauppauge hd-pvr
I also use XBMC to stream video from pc to tv (xbmc functions as extender via ethernet).
the xbox gives slightly better video quality than pc (the tv-out chip in my nvidia 7900 is not as good as the xbox tv-out chip).
That would be nice, I just shared the Sage video directory so my XBMC could play the videos from the sage box, Also can be done with the 360 using Tversity, But I’m not a fan of recompressing realtime streaming, I’d rather have more quality. So I don’t really like streaming with tversity. I quit with the sage box for now, Sometime I hope to setup a system just for XBMC on pc, Hopefully it will soon have tuner support so it will be a nice all in one media center.

Too bad Sage can’t use XBOX for an extender.
It has a ATI radeon 9600 Atlantis Saphire AGP video card that has composite & S-Video output, I used the S-Video output & a 3.5mm Headphone to RCA adapter for the sound.
Howm did you plug up the PC to TV?
I would recommend at least 1gb RAM for something like this, I have Tversity and have at least 512mb RAM.
256mb ram is too slow and will lag the computer it is hosted on.
Hope this helps
I loved it at first but have had bad experience with it since shooting this video, It will run 3 days to a week then I need to reset the pc because Java keeps freezing.
Basically SageTv is PVR software for your pc works much like a Tivo or ReplayTv & many people have great success with it but maybe it just doesn’t like my hardware. I’m thinking of switching back to my replayTv as I have just added a 500gb drive in it.
If there is anything any wants to know about it just ask.
Are you going to talk / explain a little to us who are not familiar with SageTV?
