    Yeah when they first started off they did Alka Seltzer when it was just a few then they moved onto The Glass with Gliter.

    yes, that what I heard on the DVD bonus material. They just shaked a jar of glitter and filmed it. They later cut it on and added it to the contur of the actor, beeing transported.

    I think they did both: you can actually see two different TOS effects in the video. One is sort of finer and more clear and the other is sort of clumpy. I couldn’t get either method exactly right, but my alka seltzer shots were closer. I still need to play some more to get it right.
