@funon14 its actually really easy for leaders ( eg. Cameron in the movie ) to brainwash young people. Its what Hitler did in WW2. Coz when you believe one thing from a young age it’s really hard to change that view seeing as how you’ve believed in that for so long. You can see it in the case of Derek. When he was young he dealt with the anger of his father death and Cameron saw that chance to exploit him. So basically it’s easy to mess with people’s minds if you know how to do it.
The point of the movie is to show how a person can pose all righteous about politics but in the end its just a self-serving excuse to hate. And make no mistake, hate is a drug! Tough talk gets peoples juices flowing, it has a chemical basis.
Derek ended up mentally and physically destroying his family. In the end he was the one not taking responsibility, which is the main argument he is using against , for example, Rodney King. What a hypocrite.

And racism dont exist only when someone decides kill a black, racism exist when people put apart a black person without aparent reason. And it happens all the time, in street, in a subway, in a school or in a job.

This mOvie is great but as an history, not as an art piece, if you undErStand what i am trying explain. mOvies like The Doubt, or The Reader, they have soMethIng artistic . But thIs is nOt a artistic mOvie, so eD doNt wan an oscAr, even if he playeD so welL him paper. I knOw that is unfair, i likeD toO the aLL mOvie and eD was great…
i think its remarkable how Ed Norton didnt win an oscar for his role as Derek. I mean what other actor would have done this role if they knew they would’nt get an oscar? and Im not saying that Ed Norton does some roles to get an oscar he does it because he likes the script or whatever. I just think he has been underrated as an actor for a long time now and I think he should be recognized as an amazing actor for all the work he’s done.
