Watch the 700 Club, and report on the emotional violence done by Pat Robertson to people who disagree with his extremist views.
.
Focus on the violent cartoons and comic books.
I have often seen arguments against television violence attempting to link violence in society with the violence shown on television, and thereby somehow blaming television violence for the violence in society.
However, I’ve never seen one address the fact that countries like Canada have exactly the same television shows and yet have considerably lower rates of violence than the United States.
So perhaps you do an examination of the differences between Canada and the United States, to see if you can determine why Canadian kids watching the exact same violent programs don’t have a corresponding increase in societal violence.
Strangely enough, there is one major difference between Canadian and American television. Until very recently, Canadian regulations did not allow Christian-only broadcasting channels, and so we have had a lot, lot fewer televangelists on our airwaves. A look at the geographic distribution and viewership of fundamentalist Christian broadcasts and societal violence could be very interesting indeed.
Parental oversight on the topics you have discussed. In other words their responsibility as parents to assist their kids in watching the right stuff. And most importantly, they being a good example.
