Kenny G. “In A Sentimental Mood”

March 14, 2010 by: nickadmin

I know it was kinda random to throw in a jazz song when I’m all about video games and rock, but I play the saxophone and I love falling asleep to soft jazz! yeah, thats true, all his “music” is just blah, corny crap. kenny g is like the worst saxophonist ever

  2. BUBB6697 says:

you must not know very much about sax or play it, cause thats not very hardcore

  3. BUBB6697 says:

yeah.. john coltrane and ben websters versions were by far way better

    Beautiful!!!
i like how he has his own style and it shouldn’t matter if duke likes it or not.

@JazzyBlues804 You’re an idiot…. He clearly demonstrates that he could sound sick for at least half a chorus in this video. He could easily maintain a career as a straight ahead player, but as you can clearly see, he’s very succesful doing what he’s doing. I hate smooth jazz, but I respect people that show that they could sound great and actually play changes, like kenny g and gerald albright. And no, duke would NOT be ashamed. Clearly you don’t know how open Duke was to other styles.

It’s like Kenny G has this template for every song he wants to play, wether it’s his or not, and they all sound alike. The problem is that with this one in particular, he’s violently raping a classic jazz song.
    Duke must be crying somewhere.

  9. Nephilim145 says:

What exactly is wrong with Kenny G? I’m more of a classical music guy myself but this song is pretty solid imo. I could imagine this song setting the mood for a romantic night out with the girlfriend or wife.

  10. NappyBoy024 says:

If you think he can’t play jazz, listen from 2:51-3:23. He’s rippin’ out a pretty hardcore solo if you ask me, albeit for only half a chorus

  11. NappyBoy024 says:

Why are we hatin’ on Kenny G? Have to take the artist and his music for what it’s worth. If you try and approach his music from a jazz perspective, you’re going to be disappointed. From a jazz perspective of course this music is sterile and superficial. But Kenny G isn’t trying to be a jazz musician. Some say he’s a sell out. I say he’s good at what he does and he’s sure as hell making more money than me. That being said, I would never listen/buy his music by choice.

  12. JazzyBlues804 says:

Duke would be ashamed. Um, yeah,….nuff said

  13. Allina99 says:

The original is much better than this, sometimes he lacks true skill when he could do better. My family is a fan of his but i never really felt his music was that good.

  14. ccwieber says:

haha lol dude…maybe he can teach me how to get “into” videos too…lmao

  15. gavel39 says:

  16. strkr1652 says:

  17. joey32390 says:

how does any one like this when there is better jazz around. not adult contemporary bullshit

  18. loophole00004 says:

kenny g sucks i hate him. he lacks true skill

  19. saighdude1 says:

    corny

  20. cheesyjoke says:

  21. Lxnaruto says:

    perfection.

  22. MagicRain505 says:

Please ignore my comment. I didn’t exactly mean to put it up there. I changed my mind when I got into the video. Please don’t bash me for that lol.

  23. MagicRain505 says:

This is a jazz standard… but this is done adult contemporary style. Kenny himself said that he was not a jazz musician. I would agree that he has a nice tone, but he’s not playing jazz right now.
