Is there an (easy) way to take a video screen capture?

March 12, 2010 by: nickadmin

I can take a picture of my screen with the “print screen” button… I’m just wondering if there is something similar that will allow me to capture a few seconds of visual?

You can use a software called

CamStudio (which also record any audio with your actions on the computer)

    or

CapturePad 0.1 Beta (doesn’t record audio) (registration with TechRepublic required to download this product).

I prefer CamStudio and both are freeware. There are several programs to do this with. Better programs usually cost money.

You can try Debut Video Capture Software. It’ll allow you to record all of your screen or a specific part of your screen (so if there is a video playing in a media player on your screen you can just choose to capture that area.

It’s free and it allows you to save the file to a couple of different formats. It’s also a tiny download so you can try it within minutes.

My suggestion, if you do try it, is to set “hot keys” so you can start/stop recording using your keyboard and make sure that “minimize Debut before recording starts” is ticked in the option box.

I think DemoCreaotor could be helpful for you. It enable users to record what happens on the screen and users can even export the pictures from the movie.
