Brazilian Jiu Jitsu..a Bit to consider Please read to consider?
February 27, 2010 by: nickadminOk,I here allot of the same excuses about BJJ being ineffective on the streets, Number one is You take a Guy down to the ground,Mount him ,or side control, what ever suits you. The buddy Come runs up to you,and Punts you!. Now here is my Intake, Does anyone else realize that there Buddy or Buddy’s will not wait till the fight hits the ground,They will Jump in as soon as the fight would start Also, why is that the BJJ Artist is so Lonley and has No friends to Back him up iether? Also tell me how you remain Balanced while 2+ guys are pounding on you Oh and that turkish Boxer on youtube,No doubt he has skills but Notice the dudes attacking him 1 at a time!. I have seen plenty of Fights after school where this happens with the whole Buddy system -.-. Ok second one is Pulling guard is stupid as hell, for you will be Slammed. Ok now,If you pull a proper Full Guard,It is to keep your attacker from posturing up and getting the leverage to slam you,Plus no one in a street fight will sit there and pull guard,it is to tie up the opponent and then submit,to minimize there movement. Another one is The ground will hurt. Lol Nice one,Except With the adrenaline combined with, who give a crap your being attacked! You wouldnt feel anything,I have grappling at 100% On the road,You keep your chin tucked, and you would not band your head. These people on YA take what if situations, and Blow them out of the water. I meen If you have the Right training Mind set,and a good instructor, any style can be Street effective! Its 2009 people I’ m done haveing this style Arguement. If you cant realize 110% of it is The Fighter, You are living with Cave men

My Brother uses this account also ,so I did not attack anyone. I am open about all martial Arts,I just cant sit back and listen to all this crap be spread about this.
Question is : Agree or disagree? If not,Then counter Point.

Dude chill out. You attacked me in another question just for suggesting someone try an art OTHER than BJJ.
The truth of it is, there is no ONE martial art that is perfect for EVERY situation.
So what’s your question?
You make very valid points, and I am primarily a brazilian jiu jitsu fighter and agree with some of your points. However, a lot of the time when people are talking about self-defense or street fighting they usually mean a fight where they are being attacked, not a somewhat organized fight with buddies from both sides attending for backup or to watch. So if you were being attacked by more than one person, which is often the case, then you WOULD get your face punted and stomped on. If it was a 1 on 1 fight I agree you could definitely use jiu jitsu to win a in a street fight, the adrenaline point is very true. Plus if you have a good guard and the attacker doesn’t know jiu jitsu (very likely they won’t) then they will not be able to slam you.
Still, if you should know a stand up or striking art along with bjj then your chances of winning increase significantly.
“Number one is You take a Guy down to the ground,Mount him ,or side control, what ever suits you. The buddy Come runs up to you,and Punts you!. ”
… and what is stopping this buddy from doing the same thing while your still standing… it’s not like you can’t be pre-occupied while standing up either.
It’s not even worth trying to talk to TMA guys when they get in that line of thought. they’re just lost. I don’t even think they realize how ridiculous they sound with this stuff.
“BJJ sucks because it can’t beat up 2 people at the same time, and you can be attacked from behind by four ninjas while you jump inverted guard!!!!!”
meanwhile most of these guys don’t even know what to do against a single opponent.
